Check starter connections 2003 Expedition
I recently took my Ford out of semi-hibernation without issue. After a few days of regular driving, I was unable to start it (click- no crank). I was not able to jump it with a Civic and so put it on a charger. After several hours, I was still getting a click. As a last resort, I tried a V6 Toyota and it turned over and started. I chalked it up to stronger alternator but it might have been dumb luck. I ran it for a few minutes and turned it off. When I tried to immediately restart it, it cranked and started with no problem.
I was back at clicks the next morning.
For no other reason than it was easy, I changed the battery with a new one. Still click.
I disconnected the battery and jacked up the car to pull the starter. I sprayed all bolts and connections with liquid wrench, took a long look at the access and decided I would leave it for my mechanic.
I reconnected the battery and intended to try to jump it and drive it to the repair shop. For the heck of it, I tried the key and it started immediately.
I re-pulled the battery, climbed back under, disconnected the electrical fitting and shined them all up with a brass brush.
It's been a week without incident.
Check the connections before replacing anything!
