remote start

I do not have the climate contol setting in remote start and therefore can not get heated seats or defrost to come on. Can adjust duration but nothing else. Getting no help from Ford. Have the correct key fob. Was there two types or am I just missing the software? Dealer has no answer.

First, welcome to FTE !

maybe I'm not fully awake, but not sure what you are asking
can you elaborate a bit and give us some details on your truck, etc... year. make, model, etc...
is this the stock system or add on ? (climate control and remote starter ?)

Welcome to FTE and this group. I think what you are saying is that you have no control of anything when you remote start. That is correct. The heated seats come on automatically when the temperature is below 30F along with the defrost I believe. As soon as you turn the key on all of your settings go back to the settings they were at when you shut the truck off.

I hope that answers your question.

Cheers

Try leaving the climate controls in "auto"

2011 F250 lariat 6.7 diesel with 22k. The remote start will not turn on heated or cooled seats, defrost, etc. The video on the Ford owners site shows that if you go to the remote start setting you will see duration and also climate control to set what you want on when you remote start. Mine is missing the "climate control" function. Dealer has never seen one like this and has no software upgrade to fix. Contacted Ford and am getting the typical runaround so far. They are supposed to investigate and get back to me.

The video on the Ford Owner site for the F-250 specifically says the climate control personalized settings are only available on vehicles with My Ford Touch or the Lincoln equivalent. These trucks don't have the MFT in the '11 and '12 models. And the remote start menus they show in the video are identical to those in my '13 Taurus which also aren't available on the Super Duty. In other words, your dealer and whoever you spoke to at Ford are probably wasting their time researching any further on it.

That said, as was pointed out above, there are certain preset parameters that have to be met for the heated seats to turn on, etc. Mine have always worked without fail.

remote start

Thanks for the clarification. Mine has never worked like it is supposed to. If the temp is 15, the truck will start but no heated seats, defrost, etc. Dealer was the one who said that it lacked the control. The video was under my VIN at the Ford owner site. Will check with another Ford dealer. Other than this I love this truck.

The image below is from my 2011 owner's manual. And, I can confirm that the system does indeed operate this way. Don't expect the seats to be scorching hot though. The amount of heat they generate is meant to work in conjunction with your semi warm butt against the seat. After a 10 minute remote start I notice the seats being cold instead of ice cold upon entering the truck which is an improvement.
