CEL on, has anyone seen this code?

My check engine light popped on for me a couple days ago. P2043-reductant temperature sensor range/performance. Has anyone seen this code?? Truck still runs like a raped ape, no change in driveability. Just over 21k miles. No "speed limited to 55" messages or anything else. Basically no change in the truck other than the light.

Sounds like it could be a DEF or DPF issue if I remember from reading other posts. DEF heater or pump maybe? Cold weather issue sometimes. Has your truck got the latest flash? Let us know what you find out.

A sensor code that indicates a range or performance issue would imply to me that the sensor itself is either disconnected or shorted. If it's a resistive sensor, it's normal operating range usually doesn't go to full open or full short. Not saying that's what it is, but it would be the first thing I'd check.

Don't know if it's cold related or not. The truck is parked inside every night. I'm still well within warranty and plan on bringing it in later this week. Just curious to see if anyone else has had this code before.

I have the same code on my truck. I have reset it twice and it keeps coming back if the temp gets below 18° F. I talked to the diesel tech at the local dealership and he told me that it is the DEF tank heater not working. The truck doesn't run any different with the code as it does without it.

I've repaired 2 by replacing the sender assembly (has the heater assembly in it).

That's what they told me. Had it checked this morning and they are ordering the part. I will have it installed next week.

Got my truck back yesterday...all is well. The tech replaced the temp sensor in the DEF tank. It was reading 86 degrees when ambient temp was 40. I'd say that was a little out of range...

Rickatic...Your dealer has been trying to fix this for 3 mos?? I suggest switching dealers. If you don't want to go that route, suggest that they look at the PID for Reductant Temp Sensor in the DEF tank and check it's reading compared to ambient...

I'm getting the same code (2 times now) and it's 60-70 degrees here. I can't see that it would be related to cold weather.
It's good to know which sensor it is though. Then when I take it in I can say, "I'm not sure but you might want to check the temp sensor in the DEF tank".
