I'm getting this code intermittently on my tuner. It doesn't throw the engine light on or anything. I clear it and can go a long time without it popping back up. I read somewhere it's related to cold weather starting??? Do I need to clean or replace my exhaust back pressure sensor or is this just something related to cold weather starting? 2006 F350.
Im pretty sure it was a "soft code" so it didn't set the engine light, but my truck had driveabilty issues as well. once it was fixed never had an issue
I've had trouble with this since changing the oil cooler back in September.
First, it was intermittent, then I started getting P047 and P0472.
I replaced the EBP sensor and must have gotten a Chinese knock off because it lasted one week. It failed going down the interstate at 80mph. Turbo started sneezing at that speed and it wasn't fun nursing it back home.
So, I replaced with a Motorcraft EBP sensor and made sure the tube was clear. All of my turbo issues went away.
One thing, though. You mentioned it acting up when cold. A couple weeks ago we had 27 deg (not bad by northern standards but cold here in the south) and when I started the truck at that temp and it was not plugged in, the EBP sensor and VGT feedback was not displaying anything. The display on my Edge CTS showed two dashes, that's all. It also set a P0470. Once the engine warmed up a couple of minutes, the EBP started displaying a value and the VGT came back to normal. I just chalked it up to the cold. No issues since then.
So my local 6.0 guru who worked on 6.0's everyday in EXTREME cold environments says condensation from the cold can set it off but it could be plugged some too. Going to clean it and see if it stops.
Any luck with this? I have two soft code's P0472 and P0470. Turbo wants to keep on running even after letting off the peddle. No over boosting, runs fine otherwise
Mine still sets a P0470 from time to time. Boost seems ok so I'm just ignoring it for now.
One thing you mentioned in your post perks my interest! Could you clarify how the edge reads EBP at KOEO? My MAP & BARO both show 14.5ish but EBP shows 0. You mentioned and algorithm, does the cts calculate and display 0 to the best of its ability or something? I called them about it today and was told no it displays whatever the PCM sees. I have a feeling he’s wrong......
Thats the way my cts does the ebp as well, just a 0 or few dash lines, but i can plugin forscan and it shows right,i called edge, they had me send my cts in to them, after a week they decided to send me a new one for 99 bucks, the new one does not show the ebp as well so i dont know, forscan works fine, the cts worked fine on my 05 and 06 but not the 04.

I've never talked to the folks at Edge about it, I just figured they had the cts programmed to not display atmospheric for that PID. Mine always shows zero at KOEO, so, as far as I know, EBP is pressure minus atmospheric.
I can't get any of my Bluetooth devices to work so I can't see what the actual value is on the PCM.
