I have a 2000 Excursion 2wd. The left front wheel or something up front is making a rubbing sound when I turn to the right. Checked the brakes, they looked fine. Pulled front rotor off and replaced the wheel bearing just incase. Still making that same noise?
I can't see any sign of something rubbing either on the frame, brakes lines, or control bars? So what's the problem? Anybody else ever have this issue?
My 05 Ex had a scraping sound on the right front. When I took the tire off and turned the rotor I found that the inner dust cover was just a little too close to the rotor and it would rub in certain spots (which also means that the rotors need to be turned). I bent the dust cover (thin metal piece just inside of the rotor) away from the rotor a little and problem solved.
A stick or something must have bent it outward towards the rotor just enough to make it scrape.
I'll check that out in the morning. I bet it's something little like that. The truck runs, drives, and stop fine. Just the little noise on right turns.
