'47 Ford 1.5 Ton - Transmission Removal

Found some pieces of bent up metal when I removed the inspection plate at the bottom of the truck. Have had clutch issues, so transmission needs to come out.

What's the best (perhaps, easiest?) way to remove the transmission?

Quite easy, just pull it up thru the floor. Remove the floor panel around the trans, support the back of the engine, undo the u-joint, the rear trans mount, the bolts holding it to the engine, remove starter and then prepare to hoist it up thru the floor. Remove the seat as well to get more room. Best to have 2 people help, and watch your back, these trans are not lightweights. Good luck and take your time pulling it.

Alternatively, you could just pull the engine/tranny combo and then have all that room under the hood to clean things up and do those nagging little things that I should have done- cleaning, painting, hole filling- you know the things you'll get to "eventually". Plus you'd have more room to work and a better angle with an engine puller. Either way does work though.
