I´m replacing the K&N air cleaner sistem and I want to go original. I´m going to buy an original used air cleaner plastic case on E-Bay and my question is about the models, I want to buy the right one!
My F-150 is an 1992, 4wd, supercab, 5.0, 5 speed XLT Lariat. How many models can I find? Wich is the right one?
About the MAF (I don´t have any), where can I find a brand new one? Which brand?
Thank you very much.
You don't have a MAF because being a 92 your truck is speed density. Just get the regular Ford box. If you have a pick n pull junkyard near you I would get it there.
Because I was tired of having an engine with cam, aluminun cilinder heads, headers, etc, that worked really bad with the stock EFI computer. So I´m finishing the rebuild on the engine, with stock cam and heads, and I want everything else (sensors) stock and original, in order to enjoy my truck again...
Is there any air flow/ speed density sensor that I´m going to need?
Unless someone converted the truck to Mass Airflow (MAF) your 1992 truck is using Speed Density. There is no MAF to measure the flow of air into the engine, it uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. That sensor is mounted on the passenger side firewall near the heater/AC blower case.
Looks to me like a lot of work to take the truck back to stock because of a poor camshaft choice. What were the specs. on it? Might be easier in the long run to get a custom tune or a more Speed Density friendly camshaft.
Well, too late now! Haha!! Actually, the cam wasn´t that big...
The thing was that everybody told me to go original if I wanted to have no troubles, that´s why I´m doing this...
Anyway, it seems that the K&N is going to stay then!
Thanks for the data!!!
