i have a 1993 f150 with 5.0 and auto tranny. im having extremely irritating engine problems. it randomly dies and then doesnt start right back up. first round was distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs still not fixed. second round was the coil still nothing. then we replaced the distributor, and control module???for the distributor still didnt do the trick. so we are stumped.
Does your truck have a tach? The reason I ask is, it will drop like a rock if your problem is ignition. If the problem is with fuel delivery, it will coast down as the engine speed comes down. If it dies on the highway, the engine is dragged along by the momentum of the truck. Making it easy to spot. In traffic, sometimes it's hard to catch. It may not tell you exactly what's wrong, but you won't be chasing electrical, when the real problem may be fuel delivery. Good luck.
yes it has a tach. about 4 weeks ago i was on my way home and the truck just randomly died. no warning or anything. it died like if you shut the ignition off. and if it didnt die like that it would just barely run...more or less a lope. and when i tried to start it i let the fuel pumps prime and then turned it over with nothing or sputtering and barely running.
What does this mean? Did you pull the codes and got no response from the computer? Or you pulled the codes and everything was 111? Did you do the KOER test or just the CM/KOEO test?
