Aftermarket NAV Radio in 2006 King Ranch F150
Just joined the site today and was hoping i could get some help out there. Today i installed my OTTONAVI GPS head unit purchased from Ebay. The ratings for this headunit is 45 watts x 4, however, it does not produce the same sound as my stock unit did. The stock unit would rattle the truck with the factory speakers if turned up loud. Now the sound is flat with no power at all. The unit i purchased on Ebay was specifically for my model year F150 and had the wireharnesses included so it was just plug and play.
Can anyone out there tell me where my sound has gone?
Also, for anyone out there curious about the OTTONAVI aftermarket unit, here are some tid bits i would like to share:
1) Unit does not have mounting brackets, to securely place the unit so it does not sag and fits flush within the outer plate you will need to take some thin steel brackets and drill a 3/8 in hole in it and cut to about 1/2 inch width by 1 inch tall. Comes with two screw holders instead of the 4 found on the factory so if you add the bracket it will hold it in place so you dont have a slight tilt. Will fit better and look factory.
2) Price: $500 with $20 shipping
3) GPS works great!
4) DVD player: you can watch movies if you connect the parking brake wire to a ground wire. Bonus: this unit comes with an extra harness that plugs in so you can easily do this. Works great but screen is impossible to see in bright driving conditions.
5) IPOD connections and 2 USB connections are attached to the unit
6) holds micro SD card
7) Has AV output and inputs installed so you can set up an aftermarket sound system or HDTV tuner pretty easily. Mine are just sitting there without anything attached to them, i just took the factory connections out of the stock radio and plugged into new unit.
8) Radio reception is terrible with the new unit.
9) Bluetooth phone rocks! Has a little microphone you have to mount. I took a chainsaw sharpening file and made a small side hold in the front left part of the top tray so this mic can sit up without the wire being pinched. Oh....you will need to make another side hold in the front of the tray an place the GPS reciever on the front dash.
Well, hope my tidbit helped for anyone looking to get a radio ike this.
I hope someone can tell me how I can get back to my original sound power.
My truck is a 2006 F150 King Ranch Crew Cab 4X4 5'1/2" 119000 miles and the best freaking machine i ever owned!
THanks

NEW TO FORUM. JUST PURCHASED AND INSTALLED OTTONAVI AFTERMARKET RADIO. I AGREE WITH DYLANS1DADDY.. UNIT LOOKS GREAT AND FITS PERFECT AFTER FABRICATING INSTALLATION BRACKET....
ISSUE 1: STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DON'T WORK PROPERLY
ISSUE 2: DVD CAN'T BE SEEN BUT I HAVEN'T TRIED GROUNDING THE BRAKE CABLE ON SEPARATE CABLE PLUG...
ISSUE 3: REVERSE SENSORS APPEAR TO BE WORKING SPORADICALLY
ISSUE 4: SOUND IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH FACTORY AMP/BASE SO SOUND IS GREATLY DISAPPOINTING. SPECIALLY IN THE LARIAT MODEL THAT HAS AN AMAZING SOUND SYSTEM....
