The radio is the same size, but I am not sure if the mounting tabs are in the same place. It would probably be pretty ease to change them if you have to though. I also believe someone here figured out that it does have the same plug on the back. Hoever, I am going to assume that you will have to add wires for the parking brake and gps antenna.
In my opinion you are better off going with an aftermarket unit. You can get a comparable unit for about half the price, and for the $2400 that they want for the ford unit you could put together an entire sound system. I've spent about $2000 and I have dvd, navigation, rear view camera, bluetooth phone, stealthbox with subwoofer, upgraded speakers, and a 5 channel amp. I also plan on adding monitors in the headrests of my front seats for the back seat passengers for about another $500.
The only aftermarket one I can think of that is even close to $2600 is the Clarion or Eclipse that plays DVDs and has built in navigation and a hard drive that you can rip CDs to.
Look into the Kenwood DDX6019 or DDX7019 with the KNA-G510 navigation unit, those are like what I have and am happy with. Or the Pioneer AVIC-D3 that recently came out and has got decent reviews. I thnk those are two of the more popular setups around here recently, although if you want to look into others I know Alpine, Clarion, and Eclipse all make nice units also.
