While looking for a cowl vent arm, Mgodsy put me onto the Midfifties.com catalog. Flippin thru it I noticed they had pictures of the 53-55, and the '56 hood hinge sets pointing out the differences and that they were not interchangeable. Got me to thinking about the extra set I have and intended to use on my '53, and sure enough, they're for the '56. Disappointing to find out, but better now than when trying to install them on my pickumuptruck. These have been cleaned and lubricated so they work well, and are, I guess, going begging. If someone wants to trade for um, or offer a few bucks, I'd welcome it. Give me enough of a sob story and I may just give um away for the cost of postage lol. I could use some stuff like a light switch with a good dash light rheostat, cable operated heater valve that mounts to the firewall, floor access hole gaskets (tranny, battery cover, etc), round pedals for the brake and clutch, glove box liner. I'll need brake cylinders in the near future, especially fronts for the F250 3/4 ton. Basically just putzy stuff. Make an offer, ya never know.
Don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing. Paid good money for a new set of Dennis Carpenter '53-'55 hinges that the guy never even put on his truck before he went to a forward tilt setup. It wasn't until I saw the tag on them that said "53-55" did I even think about it, checked the midfifty catalog and came to the same realization you did. Oh well...
The hood on my 56 doesn't seem to open all the way, I think it has to be in the hinges, sorry I don't have any of the parts you're lookin for. I would be interested in buying them from you.
Grant.
aint got nothin i'm lookin for? sucks to be me then dont it! lol. Drop me a PM with your addy and you can have um for the postage. Think up some sort of creative sob story tho ta post here about why I should give um to ya, will ya? lol

How's this? It all started in June of this year, I was looking thru a local buy and sell and saw a new posting for a 56 ford f100. I called the guy and went to look at it on my lunch hour, needless to say I bought it on the spot with the intention of doing a father & son thing (my son is 13). The thing is I kinda forgot to tell my wife. After about a month of serious butt kissing she started to calm down, then my evil side said " you should by some parts " then my good side said " you should buy some parts" Well I was outnumbered, so I said to my wife I'm just going to buy a few things to get started. 2 grand later I had to put it on the shelf till spring. We had to have our furnace, A/C and hot water tank replaced at the beginning of August. then last week our iron filter had to be replaced and water softner had to be rebuilt, emptying our savings. Now my 2 boys are starting hockey (my oldest is a AA goalie) That's going to give our line of credit a work out. If that is not sad enough, I slammed my finger in the door of the 56 last night showing my son how we are going to plan on mounting the steering column. I even had tears in my eyes typing this. lol
I purchased a 55 and then found a deal to good to pass up on a BBW 56 cab. Now i'm building a 56! I think I have a set of 53-55 hinges and need a set of 56 now. If mine are in good working condition I'll swap ya.

Aw man, they're already spoken for. Ain't that how it goes? My right hinge is sprung. If I can't pull the spring and get the arms back the way they're seposed to be perhaps you'll sell me your set? That job is a couple of big silly goons to hold the hood, or some sort of back yard mechanic lift/support away tho. Either way I'm sure it will look like "The 3 Stooges Do Truck Repair". I kinda hope the job can be done without removing any of the mounting bolts as they're prolly pretty reluctant to come out, and look to be special.
