first things first it has 207k miles...i have a jasper auto tranny in it and a used 3.55 posi rear...just replaced it 3 months or so ago and its a 4.6L motor
now to the issue once lightly accelerating it seems to hesitate and/or sputter..bog down in a sputtery fashion....its kinda jerky like im pullin a trailer. i have no check engine lights on and dont think its the rear because its smooth of the line and up to about 35 mph ....could it be in the tranny?i take it outta overdrive and i dont really feel it...could the overdrive be going out ? any suggestions would be great thanks
You really need to have a scanner plugged in and check for any trouble codes, or "pending " codes. That won't tell you if there is a bad part, but at least isolate the general issue. Because of the speed range that it acts up, the EGR system might be suspect. Slightly faster speed than you explain is approximately where the EGR is suppose to work. Slower speeds would cause similar issues to what you describe.
A bad coil pack also would cause these symptoms.
Another possible cause might be the torque converter. Next time it does this, try tapping the brake while accelerating. If the problem goes away, or seems to be less severe, you can get rebuilt converters.
