crazy 4x4 front axle idea!

i had an good ole boy tell me today that i could take a limited slip carrier out of a dana 44 rearend and put in my front dana 44 in my '66 f250 4x4! is this possible? if it is that would make my truck an actual "go anywhere i want" truck, but i imagine it would be next to impossible to steer when i am in 4 wheel drive! do any of you guys think this can really be done? thanks guys!

Yes, it is possible but you have a bunch of reading up to do. Setting up gears in Dana's can be a hassle and there is plenty to know.
A limited slip will allow you to turn as easily as a open carrier.

haven't gotten to it yet but another option may be aftermarket. google detroit truetrac. don't know yet though if the application will go way back to a 1963 dana 44.
