So, I have the Michelin AT/2 20", and one of my tires is "chunking" as described here. It is also not holding air pressure. It has lost about 25 lbs in 5 days. I have 13,500 miles which seems like a very low number for these tires... I had the exact same model 18" on my 2007 tundra for about 20k and they looked almost new when I traded it in.
The rears on my 2011 are down to 4/32" of tread depth in addition to the issue I mentioned. I haven't had them rotated yet because I *thought* the dealer did that at my first oil change. My fault for not checking (I didn't pay for it), but even still... 13.5k should not have worn these tires this much.
Has anyone had any luck getting these things replaced under warranty? If so, how did you go about it? If not the Ford warranty, does anyone know if Michelin honors their prorated warranty on OEM tires?
I took mine in @ 7000 miles ,back tires worn to 50% of tread left .dealer stated it was due to rapid acceleration of vehicle and my driving habits .
@ 10,000miles tires were @ 40% ,so I got to looking at what could cause both tires to wear on an open rear end, and come to find out after reading this site the ELD was not unlocking ,resulting in both tires to wear .So the dealer ended up putting in a new rear diff and said they would call ford to see if they could replace the two tires which they did . @1,000 miles on the new tires they still look good, so we will see if they hold up.

Similar tire wear issue with my truck but the ELD worked as designed. No tires for Rickatic But I really like my truck
Well, I stopped in my local Discount Tire today, and they called Michelin for me. Michelin agreed to cover 40% of the cost of two new rear tires. Discount tire offered me $75 apiece trade in on the fronts. I opted to switch to the BFG All Terrain, which is also an E load rated tire.
I will have to wash the truck and post some pics with the new tires... I have had the same tire in different sizes on my other trucks. I think I will like them on the new one... at least I hope I will :-)

The BFG A/T is what I will probably switch to when its time to replace my stock Michelins.

BFG provided me with great customer service last year. 6 yr old tires with low miles and cracked side walls. Replaced them all. I'll be buying those again.
They look good... the guys installed them black side out which I didn't think I would like... now I'm thinking I will leave them that way and see if it grows on me.
Here's hoping all you guys' stock michelins last longer than mine did
I have 29,000 on my stock tires. I look to get another 20K out of them. I did get two replaced at 10K due to chunking but the two originals look pretty good.

Congrats on the BFG's. I like em on my big blue dually.
I was curious tho about the pro rata portion offered by Michelin. On page 1 of the tire warranty book, it states they will pay a 60% pro rata for tires with mileage 12,001-24,000. Did they admit to some form of problem with that model of tire? I kno several of you guys with the Michelins have had issues with em. If so, then they need to pony up and make it right to ya bro!
I don't mean to sound unappreciative, but these big corps get by all the time with minimal penalties for screw ups while we keep giving em our $$$ for R&D. Sorry for the rant. Just trying to help a bro.
They said it was 40%, I guess I should have checked the tire warranty book
I do like the new BFGs. The have a nice feel on the road and handle corners well. Not sure if they are really that much better than the oem michelins or if it's just that they are new... but I'm pretty happy with the new tires.
On a side note, I somehow picked up a new dent and scratch in the paint. I hope it wasn't the tire shop...
