53,000 mile update.
Owner oil changes every 5k with (3) 5 quart wally world motorcraft 15w-40 jugs and MC filters bought on line....oil change costs approx. $63 with the 2 quarts leftover for the next change. Fujimoto valve makes changes a snap.
Fuel filters every 15k....about $55 on line.
'08-15: Driver's window intermittent non-op. Dealer replaced regulator under warranty even though they couldn't duplicate....no problems since.
Bought Discount tire warranty on OEM Michelins from day 1.
Had to replace 2 tires due to various mishaps, replacements have little current wear....front tires "were" still original with some outside feathering.
Had been debating whether to replace all 4 Michelins with Nittos or just do 2 new Michelins.
Last week, truck started vibrating. Discovered 1 front tire starting to separate.
Threw on spare, checking pad thickness while at it. Pads looked like they were getting low.
Off to Discount ........decided on 2 new Michelins. Was impressed with the 53000 miles and decided to stick with a proven product.
Back to the brakes.
My dealer had a pad slap special using premium pads for $99.
I haven't used a dealer for non-warranty service in.....forever.
My service writer, who I've known since around '98, laughed when I brought it in for an actual paying job...lol!!
Of course that $99 turned into:
+$20 for truck pads
+$xx for materials
+$tax
$135 total....lol!!
Oh well, saved my back for hopefully another 50,000 miles.
I used to have to add DEF around every oil change, it seems to be using quite a bit less as of late.
In fact, a freaky thing happened recently. At about 7,000 miles since lasy fill, I let the DEF warning get down to less than 100 miles; but the truck only took one 2.5 gallon container????
Previously it always took just short of 2 containers....don't get it.

All in all, even though cost of maintenance is a tad high, it's not horrible when DIY.
As much as I lust after the '17's, I guess I'll suffer with the underpowered '12 for a little longer.
