exhaust leak at inlet advice

hey guys so tomorrows job is going to be fix the exhaust leak on my 77 f250. heres the situation, I have a 460 with the stock cast manifolds and the leak is where the pipe meets the manifold. I need to replace the gasket. heres the hard part the studs and nuts are frozen and it looks like its going to be a real pita to do this. so my questions are does anyone know what size gasket I need for the stock exhaust and also what am I going to have to do to unfreeze the studs? probably tap new ones but Im not sure of what size to get for those either. so any help is always greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

Do you have access to an oxy- acetelyne torch? heat up the nuts or manifolds?

There is a off the shelf nut-freezer break loose stuff (don't laugh) spray kit that will work, or use air-duster for a computer upside down.

I have only great things about the kit, but have yet to have a use for it there for I have not bought any.

If it doesn't work out you can use this as an excuse to swap to header's

Instead of oxy torch use a small propane torch kit??

You might be able to get a special tool called (again don't laugh) nut cutter/splitter and use it on the nut to get it off.

This all sounds so wrong......good luck.

well I know I posted this query a while back and today I pulled my exhaust, manifolds and all and low and behold there werent any gaskets at the flange! the PO did a horrible job hacking in whatever pipes he had lying around so now I gotta fix this. I have no clue about exhaust systems all I know how to do is weld the pipes together, can anyone tell me where I can get the muffler inlet pipe, and if I need to put a gasket on when I put it all together? also I should replace the clamp as well I just don't know where to shop for all this stuff! thanks a lot and merry christmas

If you can weld you can build yourself an exhaust system no problemo. And any size pipes, clamps, and whatever can be found at Autozone, Advanced, or your local equivalent.

Merry Christmas you too!

what I finally ended up doing was unbolting the manifolds because they both need new gaskets and I cut the pipe enough so I could slip the manifolds out. the studs were so rusted I cut them off flush with the manifold flange and re drilled and tapped fresh new studs. tomorrow if the snow lets up I am going to get the piping I need and fab up the exhaust. its going to be real cheap, cherry bomb glasspacks and 2 1/4" dual setup. I am looking forward to posting my progress thanks to everyones advice
