I recently purchased a 2008 F250 Super Duty crew cab 4 x 4 with the 6.4L engine. As most of you know that have this type of truck, the fuel mileage sucks but I love my truck otherwise. I pull a bumper pull 25' toyhauler with about 1300 lbs. of bikes loaded. This past weekend I averaged only a little over 8 MPG. I've been researching to try and find the best performance tuner. The salesman that sold me the truck sells the Diablo Predator tuner and was wondering what anyone's thoughts were on this type of tuner. The truck is normally used for going back and forth to work, no offroad 4 x 4ing and I pull the camper about once or twice a month. I want some help with the horsepower but mostly with the MPG. I also want to be ready when and if I want to upgrade to a bigger/heavier camper/trailer. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.
get a spartan or an sct. both of them are custom tunable and are worth every penny. The one the salesman recomended is the biggest piece of crap out there. i recommend you get something with a screen to watch your pyrameters unless you want to put gauges in. But sct and spartan are the best by far!!!!
Most of the 6.4 guys would recommend Spartan over SCT. I have it for the 6.0 and it is better(in my opinion) then the SCT even in the regard of the 6.0. The most staunchest of SCT fans that I have known still recommend Spartan over SCT for the 6.4.
As to doing this for mileage, I wouldn't do it for a mind toward economy. You might see gains, you might not, you might even see a lose, but you have to remember that these are performance enhancers first and foremost. That's what I would get these things for, it'll be less of a disappointment for you if you think of it that way.
