Confounded

After spending alot of time reading alot of threads, I've decided it's time to ask. Last monday, I was leaving the grocery store and as I pulled out (in stock mode) I laid into the throttle about 3/4. After about 500 feet, lights started going off and it started to stall and die. I ended up on the side of the road. I got it to start and limped it to a parking lot. It cranks find, idles with just a hint of rough but once you press the throttle it looses power and can't go anywhere. I'm waiting on my AE enhanced feature renewal to come out so until then I can't really tell what is going on sensor wise. It also smokes white when you hit the throttle. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, no. I'm living in the barracks in VA. I'm Geo-batchelor away from family and tools. I can use the hobby shop on base, but I need to find the problem first cause you can't leave the vehicle in the bay overnight.

Try checking the UVCH connections. Unplug the harness at the top of the valve cover while running. There is one on each valve cover, unplug the drivers side first. If there is no change to the sound or idle that side is the culprit. If you unplug it and the truck dies, then the other side is the problem. If everything is the same or it runs worse you need to look at the fuel pressure and the CPS like mentioned above. Usually they don't idle very good with a loose UVCH, but I have seen a couple that idle fine with it loose.

Did the unplug test and it sounded bad, so i know its not the UVCH. I seriously doubt its CPS b/c I just had mine replaced under recall about a year ago b/c one was going out on me. I know was CPS is like. It idles well, with just a slight difference from b4 that probably only I could tell. I guess I'm gonna need to check the fuel pressure when I can get a gauge. Is there already a sensor on the truck that has fuel pressure? I thought there was but it has been awhile since I hooked in with my AE. Like I said I'm still waiting on AE to give me an activation code for my enhanced b/c without it, its just useless. Anything else besides fuel pressure and CPS?

Sounds like it doesnt have any fuel pressure. Check the fuel filter, then see how quickly the bowl fills, it should fill up pretty fast.

I hooked it up, and pulled codes, Initial codes (no SES): P1280 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low, P1690 Wastegate Solenoid Circuit, P0232 Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High, P0340 Injector Driver Module Codes Detected, P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor), P0470 Exhaust Pressure Sensor.
Cleared codes: No codes returned
**P0284 during KOER Cylinder Contribution test: Cylinder 8 Injector Circuit Contribution / Balance Fault
**During Buzz test, P1294 Injector High Side Open - Bank 2
Fuel pressure sensor reads "0" while idling.
ICP Pressure 510 +/-10 psi
**KOER Test: Ran like crap and smoked white, but came up good. Right now no codes come up unless I test something.
Soooo......I'm thinking bad injector #8, what do you guys think?

P0284 will most always come up if you have the gray CPS. Mine will pull it every time with the gray or dark blue CPS. When I put the OEM black one in, the code goes away and Perdels are normal. So don't plan on the injector just yet. You can let it get up to operating temperature and check the Perdels, I would bet that #8 reads between 5-7%. Use "Number of Misfires- Cylinder 8" in the live data area. The engine oil must be up to temperature or all readings will be 0. Make sure the Engine Oil Temperature is at least 130*.

You show P0340 as IDM and as CPS, What was the IDM code? That may be your issue, especially with #2 throwing a code on the buzz test.

There is not a fuel pressure sensor, so it should read 0 since it doesn't get a signal.

You can check fuel pressure easily with a gauge plumbed into the fuel bowl, relatively cheaply too. If that comes up okay, sounds like you may be having issues with your wiring harness or UVCH coming loose.

because there is a CPS code id start with the CPS..cheap and easy...the CPS will send mixed MSG's to the PCM and that could be the codes for the injectors...

Can't do anything till at least Thursday. I'll try a CPS whenever I get chance even though I really don't think it is since I've experienced it before. Will post an update as soon as I get the time.
