The day is coming that my poor ole 302 is going to give up on my 93 F150. (The one in my avitar) I've always wanted to put a nasty 460 in it. I am going to put a carburated 460ish with a C6 behind it. I am going to start getting things together for that. I have a C6 from a 77 F250 with a 205 behind it. I was wanting to still use my current 1356 transfer case. I am sure I can come up with the linkage for that. maybe some of you guys have some that you would be willing to sell. I was recommended to check with Ford for the brackets to attach my shifter cable up to it. Anybody know of any other places to find brackets for the cable besides Ford or a salvage yard. The salvage yards around here have cruched most of these body style trucks. I have no faith in local salvage yards and finding parts.
Next question is will the speedometer still work without the E4OD and computer? I know it reads off the exciter ring in the rear axle but where it goes from there I don't know. All I know is that sensor in the rear axle caused the transmission not to shift and speedomter not work one time when it went bad.
why not go with an EFI 460/E4OD and then not worry about it. you will make life much easier then going carb (legal issues). You could even grab the dash out of an F250/F350 that had a 460/E40d if you think that will help.

You are probably right. I actually bought a 460 powered truck with a E4OD that had 70,000 miles on it and was going to do excactly that but I decided I want to put closer to the 600hp range in it when the time came to put an engine it. I'm not to worried about legal issues. It's not legal the way it is now.
so weather could be a factor i would imagine with a carb setup. just something to think about. a 600hp 460 is gonna run some bucks so why skimp on a carb when efi offers so much more.
It's pretty much a fair weather truck anymore. A fast set up would be something to look into. Buddy of mine ran on his race car with a turbo charged 408.
