I got a wiring harness at the pull and pay place. The truck it came off of was a 74 supercab, i have a 78 supercab. The connectors are completely different, the 78 harness has 10 wires, the 74 has 6. I'm wondering if there's anyway to make this work for the 78. Both harnesses are wired for dual tanks, but on my 78, there is a toggle switch on the dash to switch between tanks, and on the 74 heating control that i picked up at the P&P, has the tank selector switch is on the heater control. i'd like to be able to use the heater control that has the factory tank selector, but I don't know to incorporate it into my 78 with the toggle switch on the dash setup. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. I've included some pics too.
Thread resurrection. I'm hoping someone may have some ideas to offer about what all wiring I need to incorporate a factory tank selector switch into my under dash wiring, and replace the dash toggle switch that I currently have. Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. Good luck on your issues, let us know how it goes. The truck I got the stuff out of said it was a 74 on the windshield, but now I'm doubting that, because someone said that the tank selector switch on 73-74 only changed the fuel gauge, and there's a manual tank selector valve on the floor on the drivers side. There isn't a manual tank selector valve, so I wonder if it's not a late 74, or 75 up pickup? I've been looking in the Haynes wiring diagram section for 74, and 78, but as many of us know, the Haynes wiring diagrams leave something to be desired. Anyone have access to a good wiring diagram for a 74, and a 78?
