I have a 1949 f47 that was supposed to have been completly gone through and so now I am repairing everything that they messed up. I am woundering where the brake pedal return spring is supposed to hook to. I have the correct pin at pedal and a new spring Is there a bracket that is supposed to come off the bell housing for it? And also the spring that would hook to the accel. pedal at the fire wall. should there be a bracket on the intake for it .
Thank you
Randy
Hi Randy,
You're right - the brake return spring should hook on a tab on the dust shield that extends past the bellhousing. Just below the clutch release shaft - it'll be obvious when you reach for it.
Accel pedal return spring - mine didn't come with one and when I hooked things together to make a test run I hooked the spring to the vacuum line from the distributor. That was 30K miles and a year and a half ago - one of these days I'll do it right......... A bracket makes sense on the intake - I just haven't seen a good stock setup to know for sure what it looks like. If you're making a driver, any ol' thing will work.
Thanks Tim after I cleaned off the cover I did find the hole for the brake spring
And Gary the clutch pedal spring hooks into a hole in the cross memember to the right off the pedal assy bracket looking at it.
