I like keeping things stock, but my intirior has a lot going on. like i said, green seat, green dash, black carpet(wal-mart, $10.00), tan door panles, white headliner, visors, silver/black dash front thingy. I was thinking about keeping the green dash, but putting on a tan dash pad thing, tan vynal/cloth insert seat upholstery, tan visors, tan headliner, tan carpet, black floor mats, and new woodgrain on the steering wheel, glove box, door panles, and dash. Any thoughts on if that would look good on the truck? Anyone know any places to get good reupholstery kits and stuff for these trucks? What about new wood grain stuff? Sorry for the lack of pictures, but that is the truck in the little pic, top left. Thanks!!!!
I experimented on one of the door panels that was on my parts truck today. I soaked it good in Mean Green than washed and rinsed in dish washing liquid, then let it air dry.
Two medium coats covered it well. After it sat for about 3 hours in the sun I installed it back in the parts truck.
I am fairly confident now the panels in my truck will turn out pretty nice. It says on the can that it should be fully chip resistant after 7 days. I was pretty rough with the panel in the pics above and it didn't hurt it any and it only dried for 3 hours.
That looks really good. I used some black Krylon fusion on an old set of mine and I through them in a storage shed a couple years ago and they have been thrown around pretty good and they still look pretty good. The only thing I would be concerned with would be the paint on the arm rest wearing off.
Here is a pic of one of the actual panels from my truck that I was wanting to bring back to life, I'll do the passenger side tomorrow. I just got the trim and arm rest back on the drive side a few minutes ago. I'll probably let it set until Tuesday before I put it on.
Not exactly the right color but I am happy with it. Its a big improvement.
hi my 1973 f-100 has the same green interior any one know what the color of the green is called by ford, i heard it was mallard green, some one else said it was jade. any way i hear alot of things, i have requested the build sheet for my truck from ford hopefully it will be on there, does any one know the proper color, im not ready to paint them yet but just wondering what the color was while i was waiting. thanks giovanni
There is a Jade but that isn't the color of my interior. My interior color is called Medium Green. I used Hunter Green on my door panels which is to dark but it was as close as I could find. The rest of my interior seat, dash, seat belts/covers, and carpet is medium green.
GIO23, you may have Medium Green also. As far as I know Jade was not available in '73.
