I got my c6 back from the shop on friday after work i went strait home to put it in I worked from 430 until 1145pm and all I mgot done was get the trans up close to the motor I have no lift so i was using a bunch of 2x4s and jacks the main problem im having is the trans wont slide forward to line up with the motor iworked all day saterday on the thing had it bolted up once but the converter was not flush with the flywheel and i tryed to bolt it in to suck every thing together the lower bell housing on the drivers side broke its about 4 inches on both the top and bottom of the bolt but only about 1.5 inches back
next weekend im getting a trans jack to try and get the trans more leval with the motor and try again
how bad is this broken peice for me and how can i fix it
I don't know how critical having the broken piecd fixed would be. It can be fixed by TIG welding. I made a tranny jack years ago by looking at a sizzors jack and then duplicating it about four times larger and put castors on it.
I'm sure you've done this, but just make sure that converter is all the way on the input shaft. That would keep it from mating up all the way to the engine.
Im sure that when I started that the converter was all the way in. that doesnt mean as many times that it got jared around that it didnt come out again. next weekend Ill rent a jack and try again . also I know a guy that welds alot so Ill see if he can fix the break i made.
I just put my C-6 back in...the convertor was a pain to lock into the front pump...held it steady at the front nub and spun it...it finally slipped ALL the way in.....also, my convertor had a drain plug that had to line up onto the hole in the flywheel..(6.9 engine) as for a trans jack my floor jack worked fine..I did however cut a piece of plywood to the size of the pan 1) to save the pan 2) to make it less likely to slide off....good luck...Al
