I was changing my front pads and one of the pistons in a caliper came all the way out and doesnt want to go back in.Is there a way to get it back in?Do I need a new caliper?thanks
You have to get it lined up perfectly, then compress the o-ring seal and it will insert.
I've rebuilt a lot of calipers in my time and most times I have to use two pry bars situated just right to push straight down on the piston.
Bleeder valve must be open or the brake line disconnected or it won't go in at all.
The boot is held into the groove by the piston, so the boot has to be installed on the piston with the bottom edge hanging down off the bottom of the piston.
Install the boot into the groove, then insert the piston and press down.
If you are trying to do all this while the caliper is still on the truck, have fun.
I always do that sort of thing on the bench.
thank you for responding,it is still on the truck, and this isnt going to be fun,I have fluid pouring out as i try to get it in.Damn MR Murphy!so much for a quick change of the front pads.
