I can't really figure out what happened to my clutch but I called them just to get their opinion on it. My pilot bearing and throwout fried. I have smoked it a couple times backing my horse trailer into the barn and we just got back from a trip to Vegas and phoenix. That was a lot of 75 mph running on the interstate. I don't know. Anyway, all they could think was I got it too hot. I can't believe he offered to send me new bearings though for free. I didn't ask for that but it is excellent service! I'll be buying valid from now on. Anyone else have an opinion on why they went out? They have only been in 9_10 months. I think I probably did overheating it. I really smoked out an tv park a few months ago too backing up a hill with the camper. I guess I need to use low range more.
I told Dan that their motto should be "valair, a standard in customer service"
or something like that.
I came up with something more catchy at the time.
He thought it was funny.
Not many people can beat them on customer service as well as quality.
I got the clutch all out and it looks new still except for the bearings. The throwout got here this afternoon too just like they said it would. Should have it buttoned up in the morning.
Yea, it sure is hard stabbing it yourself. I did it myself the first time and almost lost the trans.
The second time I broke down and bought a trans jack.
Which...
Didn't really help much. haha.
The pivots on the trans jack are impossible to turn. And I asked Dan if they welded nuts on theirs to turn them, and he said yes.

I have a trans jack thing from harbor freight that is a worthless POS! it goes on my big floor jack. I have a big one for big trucks and tractors too but with that one I can't fit it under the truck. Those nuts on the cheap one are impossible to turn. I use the floor jack mostly and some help to ballance it. Much easier.
I never ride the clutch. In fact since I drive big trucks too and this one hasn't had any synchros since I got it I rarely even use it. Its rare that I grind gears too. I mostly just use it for starting and stopping but I have had to slip it backing stuff up before. I know I need to start using that low range. That's what it's there for. No need for slipping then. low first is really really slow!
