When I put on the brakes at 45mph+ on my F250 4x4 diesel Superduty the front end shudders badly. The Ford dealers just want to sell you new brakes and get rid of you, so I have replaced the pads and had the disks either turned down or replaced 3 times. This makes it go away for about 2500 miles and then, it starts again. The latest dealer mechanic told me that the hubs are "okay" and, at one time, a dealer replaced the steering control arm. Anyway, despite all the stuff about warped discs and bad pads, that is not the problem. Any ideas?
You most likely have a bad caliper which is causing uneven wear on the pads and warping your rotors due to excessive heat buildup as you say that the problem returns after 2500 miles. You need to resurface the rotors, replace the pads, and rebuild the calipers. That should make the problem go away.
I would replace the rotors as well. I didn't make it much more then a few thousand miles when I had my rotors turned. Since I replaced the rotors a year ago, I haven't had any issues. Also, Make sure the calpier slide pins are properly lubed. That can cause the caliper to stick as well.
Check and repair calipers
Lube Slide Pins
Replace rotors (consider cryo-treated rotors which resist warping better than regular rotors) turning rotors just removes material and makes them more likely to warp in the future
