Oasis Report on....

The truck that I am looking to purchase right now is a 2005 F350 Crew Cab with the 6.0. Has 102K on it. The oasis report says the head gaskets have been replace as well as the turbo on the truck and the EGR valve. That's a whole lot of work to this truck. The work was all done 2 1/2 years ago. Should I avoid this truck like the plague? Or what should I hit this guy with to pay for such a truck? Any true and honest feedback greatly appreciated.

Josh

Well, it was done under warranty, so it may have been due to tuning, but maybe not. Is it chipped now? If not, at least you will have new head gaskets (that like to fail), a new turbo, and a new EGR valve (but you will replace that a few times in your ownership uless you do the EGR delete).

No chip. The only modifications that I have seen is the truck is lifted. Everything else (mechanically) is stock. Im pretty wary of this deal now. Is $20K too much for this truck?

i would look at the work done by the dealer as a good thing. they were common things that go wrong and this truck has had it fixed. not sure about $$$. not sure what going price is right now.

I really want to look at it that way myself. Just nervous since I've only owned V10 Super Duties and I dont know a lot about diesels other than I need to keep a couple grand back for emergencies with it.

I think $20K is reasonable for the year and mileage if 4x4. Is it 4x4? FX4 package? That will affect value a lot. Take it to a reputable diesel tech to have it checked out before purchase, but it seems to be a good deal. You may be able to get it down to $19K or less as it is lifted and that actually brings down the value.

Yeah it's a 4X4 lariat. The tires are new on it. Like still have ******* on them and everything I just am super worried that this rig could turn on me. It just looks so well taken care of. And all major repairs were done through a Houston Ford Dealer, which makes me feel a little better.
