well, after a good summer of off roading the old girl, the front suspension is ready for another rebuild. got under her after hearing some clunking in the front end and found both outer tie rods and the drag link are bad (have a little over a year on them and i grease the truck everytime i come back from off roading). i also have to replace the ball joints on the right side since they are seized, replace the front rotors, pads, repack the bearings, and put new u-joints in the axle shafts. fun stuff! so who else has weekend plans involving busted knuckles and grease up to their elbows?
I could be in the same situation as you this weekend with my D44, but I'm gonna refrain from spending any money on it until I get to fixing the rest of the suspension too.
For a change I will be actually driving my truck. Taking it to go camping in VT and to the Harpoon Brewery Octoberfest in Windsor VT. Time for Oompa Bands, Beer and German Sausage....

You forgot the sausey beer wenches!!!
Anyway I am going to be pulling the I6 from the 86 in my sig and putting it in the 83 in my sig...
Hooking up the rest of my new Summit Racing exhaust system so I can finish tuning my rebuilt engine. Mounting an electric fan and hopfully rebuilding the rear brakes.
And wishing I had sausey beer wenches to bring me tools!!!
I will be going to a big auto swap meet that happens twice a year, hopefully someone will have some goodies for me.

LOL... Well we don't have part's swap meets around here... So I just buy extra trucks... The 3 in the middle are the running ones. The 2 outside ones are parts donors that will be going to the scrap yard soon... Either way I feel right at home as soon as I pull in the drive every night...
From Left to right I paid $200, $600, $180, $1, and $240... So for 5 trucks for $1221 isn't bad I don't think!!!!
Welp, something did come up for me. I get to spend tomorrow doing plugs/wires, and cleaning the MAF, IAC, and Throttle body on the newer Ranger. Then, with the rest of my day, I'm doing my weekend school work, and then Sunday is study study study for one of my finals.
I pulled the I6 from a 86 this last weekend and have it stripped down... need to get new valve cover gasket, OP gasket, fuel pump gasket and a few other things... then it will be ready to put in the 83 for my old man this coming weekend!
i did absolutely nothing i was supposed to. worked on my '92 jeep some and had to refrain from using kerosene and a road flare to "fix" it. my poor truck never even left the driveway this weekend.
This is my first post, so you can bet that I'll make a separate post in the near-future with pictures to show my project.
I finished my paint job this weekend on my '85 F150. It took about two weeks (an hour or two each day), but it's a great looking camo job. Also, me and a buddy welded a steel plate into the driver's side floorboard to patch up a rust spot under the pedals.
