Starter Relay

Two part question: I want to fix my truck so that while I'm out of town my kids can not take it for a joy ride. I know that in our Focus, we have a Starter Relay (I haven't looked at my truck yet) in the fuse box, can it be easily pulled out so the car/truck and will doing that make it so that it can not be cranked?

Wow you must have some crafty kids. Why not remove the battery, and take the keys with you? Seems a little easier than pulling fuses.

I had spare keys made of my folks cars when I was younger so that I could do just this so good for you for thinking pass the keys. No pulling the relay should not hurt anything.

Well that would certainly stop any joy riding. Heck you don't even need to take them with you just remove them. No kid I know would want to spend the time to install the tires again. Nice suggestion Dano!

ive got a thirteen year old who is a little crafty, and a father who enjoys watching me go through the same pains i put him through.i cant prove it but i think he makes suggestions for shennanigans when im not around. so i have to stay two steps ahead of both of them. they have not gone as far as the truck yet, but that day will be here soon im sure

Good Luck to you! Look at it this way if he is doing that then he most likely is suggesting things you did or something similar so you have a bit of an edge if you can remember what you pulled as a kid.

it is a LONG list that he can brainstorm from. some of the stuff i forgot i even did. and some i am still denying any guilt too.
also back on topic, they sell a gps sensor for your vehicle that you can watch from your laptop.$50 i believe, and it can be hidden. so mount that in /on the truck and then leave the box out on the counter for the kids to see.it should deter any joyrides if they know that you are watching.
