2011 Remote Start

Greetings,

I hear that the 2011 Super Duty has an available plug and play bi-directional remote start.

Does anyone know what it would take to install one? Evidently it is an option on the 2011s and from what I have been told in order to install one you have to plug in the module and have the dealer "activate" it on the body control module.

My dealer has been less than responsive in my request to have them install one but I can get the parts from another dealer but am having problems tracking down where to plug the module in.

Does anyone have any info about this or where the Ford installation guide would be?

Thanks everyone.

I haven't heard anything about a factory two way remote start. I have been waiting patiently for the aftermarket manufacturers to come out with the interface module for my 11 gasser.

Do you have any links at all to the Ford remote starter?

Our local dealer ordered me the 2 way kit and even sent me the install instructions.

It's a simple plug and play. I should have it tomorrow or Wednesday.

Here are the complete documents. There are 2 - 1 for installation and 1 for programming. The guides cover most of the ford vehicles but look at the one for 2011. It just plugs right in. After the install is done, the remote start parameter has to be activated. That is also in the instructions.

You still have to have the keys cut right? How much was that?

And you did the rest of the programming yourself?

Yeah. The install literally took less than 5 mins. 1 module, 1 plug.

Getting the keys cut right now then off to a friends to have the BCM set to accept remote start.

Programming the keys is also very simple.

Compared to other remote start systems, this one is absolute cake.

Ok. For those interested. I got the keys cut and went ahead and had the dealer update the BCM since they knew what I was talking about. I was going to have my friend do it since I wasn't sure the dealer would know what I was talking about but they are pretty sharp evidently.

They charged nothing for the cutting of the keys and charged nothing for the BCM tweak. The tech even showed me a bunch of other stuff in the IDM tool. Neat stuff.

Here is the kit.

Wow...that is one very tidy little kit for the install. What was the cost of the kit? What kind of start confirmation do you get on the key so that you know the truck started. I really didn't realize that you'd get fresh keys with the starter button built in. I like that idea a lot better than having to have another remote hanging off my keys...

Kit was like 250. No confirmation though.

Very seamless though. Quite happy with it

Just installed the kit. Paid $209 with tax at the local dealer.

Having the keys cut and the BCM flashed tomorrow.

Yes, this is the factory kit for the 2011 F250.

According to the instructions posted above by Big Ruth, it has the fewest components and looks to be, by far, the easiest to install.

If you have a different year or model, just be sure to get the corresponding part #.

Well that was fun.

So the dealer cut and programmed the keys. However they failed to do the BCM tweak.

Apparently I was misunderstood on why I wanted new keys with the remote start button. They thought I was installing an aftermarket system using the stock keys, and I just needed the keys cut and programmed. I'm not sure it's even possible to use the factory fob with an aftermarket system but that's another subject altogether.

Anyway after explaining the situation to three different service people, come to find out none of them are at all familiar with installing the factory RS on a 2011 F250. Hey, at least they finally admitted it.

I say no big deal here's what you need to do. (Another big thanks to Big Ruth and the second link he posted earlier with the instructions).

They let me use one of their computers and I log right on and come to this thread for the link. Downloaded the instructions, they print it out and voila! 10 minutes later we're in business.

Now lost in all this were the two questions I forgot to ask. What exactly is the range on this puppy and how long is the run time? I'm hoping it's over 300ft and more than 10 minutes.

Glad you got it worked out Dave.

You can program it to run for 5-10-15 mins.

I have found the range to be really good. I start it inside my office with the truck at the other end of the parking lot. That's over 200 feet.
