Here are the specs of the truck that i am aware of. 3 inch lift bigger tires. Motor 4.6 millage is 174k. So i went to use the dash switch to engage into 4hi at my job due to thick mud in the yard. I noticed on the dash the 4x4 light kept flickering on and off. And there was a small sound like it was disengage the reengage. I put the truck in 4hi while sitting still. Any thoughts?

 

flickerin light sounds electrical, check elect. connections on transfer case and you'll prob find its corroded, clean that up and try again, if thats clean maybe the switch has bad connection, dash pops right off 2 check that, electrical connections can b tricky so when theres any ? about a connection then clean it up good so u know its good b4 going further

 

Yea I took apart the dash turned out it was for to a poor connection to the switch.

 

Gotta love the easy fixes!

 

glad to help, my backlight in my 4x4 switch is burnt out and i cant get a replacement without ordering whole switch as far as i've checked at 2 ford dealers, kinda sucks but dash light works and all so i dont worry about it too much, just think itd b nice to have it workin, and its not the same as the temp backlight even though its the same lookin bulb, the point on bulb where the power it givin to it is 90 degrees off between the 2, guess it will have to stay bad 167000 and still strong
