Getting a good snow storm here in MN and I just bought my truck 2004 F150 lariat crew with 5.4. Well I just ran to the store and needed 4X4 I turned the switch and the light (4X4 HI) on the dash blinked once. Well the 4X4 is working I can hear the motors locking in and out when switched on. I put it into 4 lo and the dash light works for that. It is definantly working in 4 HI because if I take it out I will just spin. Anyone ever see this and how can I fix it?

Do the self test (Hold the trip button and turn the key on, IIRC) and if it doesn't show up then, the cluster has to come out for bulb replacement or reconnect it into the socket.

The bulb works it lights up when I first start the truck. It will flash 4HI once when I turn the swithc but will not stay lit. 4LO will. Wierd thing is the 4WD works as it should jut would like to have the light for a reminder that I am in 4WD.

I will venture a guess that the light is lit up by a switch on the transfer motor. It sounds like it may be out of adjustment, because you say it blinks on then off.

Ok then, it does sound like its and easy fix and not a problem. I don't have an answer from here.
