Hi There, I need help with a oil leak. Its on the drivers side rear. I have a 04 with a 5.4 3v with 100k. It will only leak when driving. I have had it on the rack for more then 8 hr on three different trips to the shop. No one can find this leak, because it will only leak when driving. Anyone with info on this. Thank you.
So has the motor been running while it was on the rack? I would think that a high idle would create an oil leak too, if it was a cover. I would lift the truck just enough to get under there, get a good light and a small telescoping mirror to look around up there. There isnt much else up there to leak if it isnt that.

Thank everyone for your response, But the valve gaskets are fine. I have had the truck in 3 different ford dealers with trained personal. Thay are stumped. As am I. I would need someone who has had this problem, and was able to find out where its comming from. Thanks, Mick.
It's not that hard to figure out. Clean the affected area w/ brake clean and dry it w/ compressed shop air. Take it for a ride and then put it back on the hoist and see where the oil's coming from. Could be a leaking head gasket or cracked head? Where exactly is it leaking on the engine? Up near the head, or down near the oil pan?
