Overhead Console ("Lie-o-meter") has quit working, and FUSE ?
Hey Guys,
I know that in the grand scheme of things this isn't all that important to most people, but I like to have the things in my truck working the way they are supposed to. The overhead console that gives the outside air temp, compass heading, and fuel mileage information has gone out. It didn't quit immediately. For about 2 weeks it would work one day and then not work the next. Some times I could tell it was on but barely lit up. It has now quit working completely. I checked my fuses and couldn't find any that were bad. Has anyone dealt with one of these before and can you give me guidance on how to get it working again?
Also, on a side note - when checking fuses I noticed that fuses #31 and #32 wouldn't light up the test light. The fuse looked fine. #31 is a 15A for the "transmission range sensor and then to starter relay coil." I am assuming that the truck has to be running and transmission working in order for this one to have a current through it???? #32 is a 5A for the "Radio (start)." I don't know what this means, does anyone else??
Thanks for the help!

Overhead console is a common issue, some of the resistors on the board come loose and need to be re-soldered on. I think Chris (F350-6) has a good thread with photos.

In all seriousness, remove the fuse and live with the overhead console not working.
My friend has had TWO of them let the magic smoke out of them, and one nearly caught his truck on fire. With all the problems people have with these things, Id personally just leave it alone.

It is almost always the resistors.
