i couldn't get the truck to run right and it seemed fuel starved so i put in my glass filter and to no ones surprise i could watch the larger pieces of rust suck tight to the filter and cause it to choke out. Well when i got the truck it came with another tank in good shape that looked like someone had already prepped it. so I'm gonna put it in. Is there something i can do with the vent line at the tank? the one that runs up front to the canister? I'm not using it and i see no reason to have it hanging up in my engine bay...can i plug it or put a vacuum check valve or small filter on it or something to keep it from having to be up front? Anybody got any input or tips on things to do while i got the tank out? i can't afford a sending unit and stuff...actually i'm broke like always so i don't have any real money to put into it but small things like new nuts and bolts on the hangers and cleaning up the straps i'll do. Probably new clamps too even though besides the dirt they were good...and man was their dirt...lost of it on top of the tank and hangers. i know its just dirt but i sometimes wonder where it came from. for all i know it could be texas dirt or maine...never know where the truck has been.
well i have a 73 with no fuel door so i don't want a big ugly vented cap..and i haven't seen any nice ones.
Why does it need a capture tank? it's not being used right now. like it doesn't have a vacuum line coming from the canister to the carb to re use the vapors so why couldn't it use a small filter on the line so that no debris gets in and it'll still vent...just that it'll vent under the bed.

when i bought my new gas tank, they sent me a non vented one... the only safe way to make it work was with a vented gas cap. I tried to use the vent tube from the tank and put a filter on it, so much fumes under the truck that i couldnt breathe. The vented gas cap is about 10 bucks from napa and it works well, its big as hell but it works well, and its safely keeping the fumes in the tank, instead of in my face while i work on the truck.
F100help. you said they sent your a nonvented but then you say you tried to put a filter on it but that means you would have a vented tank...i'm just wondering what you was putting the filter on. btw if people send me the wrong **** i'd be pissed.
anyone got the part number for the vented cap preferably the autozone part number.
If you really want to get rid of the EEC system. Leave the valve in the tank and put a good quality vacuum cap on it (its 5/16") and install a VENTED fuel cap.
You don't need to do anything else. If you want to you can remove the charcoal canister and lines but thats not necessary.
