If the truck is a 351HO(4bbl) it should be Duraspark and the cab is a 4180 Holley, no feedback, I don't recall if the last one I worked on had the solenoids pictured, but, it has been a while.
those look like TAB and TAD solinoids as mentioned in a prior post.
With having them, I am led to believe your truck is CFI. Easiest way to check, is to count how many wires are going into your distributor. three going straight into it, and you are carbed. More than three going into a module on the side of the distributor, and you have CFI.
Neither need the TAB and TAD stuff. You may find a check engine light and in rare cases part throttle detonation if you remove all emissions equipment eith CFI/EFI.
Guys, DO NOT make any assumptions when it comes to ignition or emissions equipment on any of these trucks, about the only thing that is for sure is that the EFI 5.0 has TFI-IV. There was even a non catalyst, non egr non AIR spec for the 300 right until they went fuellie...
I poked around his photobucket a bit, that truck definitely has a 351 HO, with a 4180 Holley 4bbl on here. Guaranteed that truck has Duraspark II. Odds are those solenoids are controlled by a module of some sort under the dash, not an ECM per se. I have seen that before.

Yes I realise this. Some had TFI-IV, EEC-IV begining in 1984 and some didn't have anything other than DS-II. This went by GVWR as Well as Size of Engine.

According to the service manual, it could have a hyberdized EEC-III, with either a DS-II or DS-III module.
Or it has a EEC-IV, TFI-IV ignition system. The manual doesn't differentiate between 351W or 351HO so I couldn't state which is which and will take your word for it.
It does look like it has a DS module under the solenoids. To determin if it's a DS-II or DS-III the color gromet needs to be checked on the module. Blue Grommet is DS-II, Yellow Grommet is DS-III.
thanks for all the help guys! the grommet on the module is blue.the front solenoid seems like the wires go to the a/c compressor and over to the accumulator.i took a pic of some module under the dash just to the right of the steering column. i also took a pic of a couple relays that are on the firewall on the drivers side. do these relays have something to do with this system. thanks .
That module under your dash is for the cruise control, the relays on the firewall could be for a few things, need to chase the wiring and see where they go. I seem to recall my 6.9 truck having one tied into the factory trailer wiring package. I have the harness somewhere from the old cab. Does the truck have a wire going from the batt+ with a fuseable link leading to a terminal stud by the brake booster?
As said above, the blue strain relief means Duraspark II.
Post the color wires, and how many of each, on the relays, and I can track it down.
On your truck the EEC only controls the tab and tad solenoids, and on some it controls canister purge, limited EGR functon, timing retard through a vacumm solenoids to prevent detonation.
It will be easy to remove on your truck with little ill effect. But if it's running good I'd leave it alone.
