I would call and ask if they guaruntee fitment. Also ask who and where it was manufactured. If it's one f the thin china made pieces I would stay away from it.
Its probably not very good quality but there is not a lot of choices out there for those shells. There are plenty of places to buy 78/79 grills but not the earlier ones.
Do not get that shell. It's utter crap! It won't fit, it's as thin as a soda can and the finish is horrible. I will say this again. Here are your only real options for grille shell replacment.
1) Dennis Carpentar. OEM tooling and finish. Not cheap but perfect in every way. No one else makes shells from OEM tooling except them.
2) LMC Chromed Steel. Very shiny, and from what people here have said, fits great. Not oem tooling.
3) OEM. Find a used one. If the finish is a bit rough, strip anodizing and polish-or take it to a shop to polish.
Im not looking to buy right now...I have a very nice orginal, but it is not perfect. I also am far from needing one. I was just curious if anybody had actually ordered one, and if so, exactly how crappy is it? LOL
I bought one of those for a 78-79. Same crap quality. It was off width wise by 8", worst finish I have seen on metal, flimsy, etc. etc. I wouldn't put this on a junk yard truck.
As bad as those types of grills sound, I can't even believe they are still on the market or companies change their tooling a bit to try and get a better product. I've got a couple of 73-77 OEM used grills. Nothing perfect, daily driver kinda grills and I've thought about stripping one down and making it into a project grill to see how it turns out.
i just scored 2 yes you read right 2 grill surrounds for my 78/79s original ford in pristeine condition for $60.00 for the pair were sitting in an attic for over 25 years the guy was a service manager for a dealership in edmonton alberta retired and going to an old folks home the kids cleaning out the house/garage and selling all his parts and they had no idea what these were worth

Now thats a sweet deal, throw a picture up when you get a chance.
I would take your two originals to a metal polishing shop and get an estimate. You would be amazed at how nice they can turn out. Or you can do it yourself.
Just to update this thread. LMC is now selling chrome steel grill shells for the 73-77 trucks. I bought one awhile back for the 78-79 styles and have been very pleased with it. It is costly though.
How do the marker lights line up on the LMC ones you bought. We bought one from LMC about 7-8 years ago and we were not impressed. There was a 1/2 gap where the shell stuck out too far from the lens.
