Stall Converter Selection

I built about a 500HP 460 with a cam that absolutey is crap below 2K rpms, anyways I usually have manuals in all my toys but this is a somewhat low dollar weekend pulling truck for girlfriend so I made an auto for her, plus it'll be a weekend driver for me. The tranny is a C-6. So this thing runs great right up to 6K rpms after you baby the stock torque converter above 2K rpms, so this thing will need to be in it's powerband on the track, so a 3K stall converter would be fine, but as far as driving it down the road at 65mph it's at about 3,300rpms, which would be ok except when I'm driving around 50mph is the stall converter gonna start acting up? I'm not real familiar w/ how it will exactly function at cruzing speed below it's rated stall?

Ideally, you want a converter that stalls where the engine makes its peak torque. You can go lower than that to improve drivability, but it needs to above the point where the motor starts to make power. One thing you might want to add is a large trans cooler; a Powerstroke cooler works well and is a stacked plate type which is much better than a tube and fin type. A gear change will also help.

Well I'll need to go lower then that to keep drivability, it starts making power at 2K, so anything after that is fine, it's no full out drag car or pulling truck, it's gotta pull double duty. As far as the rest of the tranny goes I have a big trans cooler, plus the stock one, got a shift kit, etc. and it is already 4.10's in the axles.
