69' starting problems
I am working on a 1969 F350 with a 360/4 speed. The engine will turn over but won't fire what could be the culprits? And also there is about 1 1/2 gallons of gas in the tank is this enough for the pickup? thanks

69 flatbed,have you checked for fire at the plugs?If you have spark then make sure the timing is set correctly.Check to see if you have gas at the carb,turn the engine over for about 20 seconds then with the key off and air filter removed climb up and look down inside the carb while you manually open the carb linkage completely.You should see gas spraying into the carb bore and into the engine.If not you could have a bad fuel pump or a bad accelerator pump.I would start with the fuel pump and if that is working then check the carb functions.Let us know what you find.

well i have gotten the engine to run, but with no alternator. The problem was that every time i hooked up the battery the alt. and red cable to the alt. would start to burn. What is going on? And are there pictures of the back of a hooked up alternator for a 1969 w/360?
