I was going to start with the fenders, but they were a mess from sitting around for so long, I patched them up and shot another coat of primer. Then I shot my first color on the hood and cab.
Steve,
So do you want me to bring my 56 cab and front sheetmetal over after church. I can probably be there by 3p. LOL. Looks real good. Is it your first shooting or have you painted before.
Looks really nice. Like the plastic sheeting . I have been painting my last 2 56s meadow green also. The 56f100 is all sprayed, but need blocked and resprayed 1 more time, and the 56f250 has the main parts sprayed, but need to start assembly.
I love meadow green, and is yours base coat?
I sprayed 2 trucks this summer...1 a 57 and 1 a big 56 with acrylic enamel and they came out good.
Base coat really does great when dirt is a factor. That slant-cab will be nice when done...good luck and hope the horses liked the smell...LOL
My 51 does not need paint but I have a "T" that needs sprayed that very same color. I am in Spring Hill so I will just drive it over Monday and run it thru your color wash setup. You won't even need to clean out your paint pot. Heheheh.
Thanks all, I am really pleased. Tacson, nope this is my first. I still have to sand and buff, but I'm thinking it will be more than good enough for a driver. AND I can say I did it myself. I kept looking for you at the cruise-in, last Friday was the last one of the season.
I have an acquaintance who builds custom cars for a living in the Boro and he offered me his paint booth... but I like being able to say I painted it in my barn, and I've seen his work and it's incredible, I was embarrassed to take my stuff there. Of course, we'll see what I have to say when I'm done sanding out the couple of bugs that landed on it.
If I can do it, anybody can. The biggest challenge was getting up the nerve to do it. I finally told myself that I could always start over and re-do it if it didn't turn out. Like my front fenders, I figured they couldn't get any worse, and as my gallery attests, they turned out good. If the weather cooperates, I am going to shoot them this Saturday.
A continued big thank you to Randy Jack for his encouragement.
That is cool. You encourage me to try more of my own rather than farm (pay someone else). Im on 2nd shift now that is why I havent been up to the cruise in. I heard there was a very good turnout. Your work looks good. What kind of spray gun did you use and what brand of paint?
The spray gun.... hmmmmm not sure, bought it a couple of years ago when I started priming. I think I got it from Eastwood. Not a super expensive one. I'm thinking that for the limited amount I would use it... but now Jonathan wants to paint his 65 Mustang, Joshua wants to paint his 95 Camaro, and Isaiah wants to paint his 95 Mustang.
Paint came from Auto Color on Thompson Lane. Both primer and color are Omni. The color is single stage acrylic.
