Idle Fluctuation

Been noticing idle fluctuating how much fluctuation should there be ? If Iam sitting at an idle I notice Idle flutuation and engine sound changes at the same time, didn't notice it before.

Also when I come to a stop, idle fluctuaion is more noticable. At times while pulling up to a stop sign and Iam on the brake I can feel the truck want to take off. The highest I saw the rpm do that was about a 1000 rpm. Also at a stop, if Iam on the brakes I notice the rpms will climd slowly and back down again . I notice it more with my higher tunes . What could be my problem ? Could it be my throttle pedal assembly ?

Thanks

More than likely is your IPR, possibly your CPS and possibly throttle position sensor, but from my understanding it's your IPR becoming sticky.

Should the I remove the IPR and clean it ?

I have the grey cps from recall. Should I swap it with my old black cps and see what happens ?

TPS is that the one that comes as an assembly with pedal ?

Try swapping the CPS, see what happens, then clean the IPR if no results.

If you have a AE tool then you can check the status of your TPS, and yes, your throttle position sensor.

It would also be a good idea to check for any other codes and run tests, but I'm betting it's your IPR. My truck sometimes does the same thing and when I put in the clutch after having the throttle at 1500 rpms or better the engine will drop down to try and idle but it will almost drop to about 400 rpm, almost stalling out though it never does until it settles in at the proper idle speed and idles just fine, occasionally having a fluctuating idle. I have yet to fix it but I plan on replacing my IPR when funds permit.

I will try swapping the cps, did that before for a hesitation issue and the swapped the grey back in .

I dont have and AE but scanned it with my modis and no codes present . I will try to clean it when I have the chance . Why would some one buy a new IPR when you could clean it out ?

My preference is to buy a new one, clean the old one to have a spare in the glove box and buy the new one in case I ruin the old one

I bought mine from Clay. You might find one on ebay. Clay's your best shot though.

yea, I hear ya, and from my understanding it is supposed to help. It could also possibly be the ICP, though I doubt it. You can test that by pulling the plug on the ICP when the idle is fluctuating

A miss would be more likely as the IPR would not be regulating smoothly like it should be. Romps can be cause by a few things, this being one of them.
Granted my knowledge is limited and I am still learning but maybe one of the more edjumakated people can chime in and give you their input as well.

If it's the ICP then try unplugging it and see if the problem goes away. If it does not then that is not the problem as unplugging it puts the PCM into a default state where it uses default stored codes in order to keep the engine running and not the signal coming from the ICP.
