pluged pcv valve

how important is the second inlet on the pcv valve? I replaced the valve today and instead of running the hose from the air cleaner to the valve I just plugged it. the hose that connects to the manifold is still attached the only reason I plugged it was because the PO installed an aftermarket air cleaner and never hooked up that hose.

Plugging it is fine; just don't leave it open.

Both ports go the same place inside the valve; as long as the big one is connected to manifold vacuum, you're good. Essentially, a 2-port PCV valve just has a vacuum tee built-in:

That's a genuine Ford PCV valve. It's stock two port top(in top of pic) makes it difficult to fit under the upper intake on an EFI 5.0 engine. Buy an aftermarket single port(lower in pic) and use the top on the Ford PCV.
