.1990 Speed density performance

Hi, I am new to the old ford speed density fuel injection and am wondering what I can do to help out performance. 1990 f-150 with headers and cold air intake. I am planning on putting a 347 stroker in it this winter. Should I convert to a mass air system or what? Thanks

Mass air

Thanks for the ideas. What is the best route to take as far as getting a mass air? Junk yard or what? What all do I need from a doner truck? Thanks.

Unless you have the E4OD transmission I suggest you get a mustang EEC(A9L, A9P, C3W1) and matching MAF meter plus a MAF wiring harness from a donor truck or a Stang. The reason is because these computers are supported by the popular aftermarket tuners(Tweecer and Quarterhorse) and you will need one if you build a performance engine and expect to get your money's worth from it. You won't use the harness complete it's just to pull out the sequential injector and MAF wiring and add it to the existing harness in your truck, just be aware you need complete wiring with EEC connector pins attached since these wires and the corresponding pins don't even exist in your truck harness right now. The EEC connector does come apart so you can add more pins, and you'll have to move some others around since several devices are at different pin locations on cars versus trucks. This spreadsheet outlines the differences in EEC pinouts..

No, EEC-4 systems get crank position from the distributor and that's all that is needed for batch or sequential injection.

Yes.. but the problem is the engine harness is integrated with the chassis harness on these MAF trucks and simply unplugging the engine portion does you no good because you need complete wiring all the way back to the EEC connector. So the only way to do a MAF conversion using a donor harness is to obtain complete a harness from a donor vehicle and then remove the injector and MAF portions from it and add them to the existing harness in your truck.
