problem with over charge my van

folks hi, new batery, alternador,regulator.......it chager ok, but on my ohm meter sad 18.05 or 19.70 volts and the normal is 14.05 to 15.50 volts !!!..... ford van serie econoline 4.9 300cc 6L 1984
i can find the problem !!!

Make sure regulator has good ground where it is screwed on.
Check the "A" wire. See if same voltage on "A" wire at regulator same as at the battery post.
If voltage same and good ground at regulator then change regulator.

subford got it.

Likely bad sense wire.

Replace the pigtail --- almost certain that is likely point of failure.

yes a did sr new regulator but do the same thing

Correct the problem before driving any further. !8 to 19 volts can fry your computer, blow fuses and burn out bulbs.

Check that "A" wire.

If you have charge light it should be wired like this.


If you have a gauge it should be wired like this.
