Factory Simonize treatment

Did anyone else besides me take the factory Simonize tretment? If so please chime in and let me know how it's doing? My 2010 F250 is coming up on it's one year anniversary and I have to say the factory Simonize treatment is performing as adveritsed. My F250 is black and as you might expect more difficult than normal to keep looking new. Here in Florida the worst thing for a vehicles finish is when it rains immediately followed up by scorching heat. The sun burns in the water spots right through the clear coat. I've seen this happen on several of my black vehicles in the past. However, the dreaded rain followed by scorching heat has happened several times this year to my F250, but it washes clean showing zero burn in. I'm attributing this to the Simonize.

It is good until the clear coat starts to wear...

With black, you got max sun energy absorption... so it is a matter of time.

Nothing beats a carport / garage to keep the sun off and increase paint life.

Hopefully, you trade it before it becomes an issue.

I don't think you understand. The factory Simonize sits on top of the clear coat. If the clear coat is wearing that means the Simonize is gone and I get a new paint job paid by Ford! Of course that would have to happen before the 5 year Simonize warranty expires.
How many work parking lots have carport/garages? 9/10 of most vehicles spend half their life uncovered in the weather.

It's called Simonize "Glass coat" . http://www.simonizusa.com/consumer/C...lassCoat_1.asp . By factory I mean Ford sells it as well as warrants it on brand new vehicles. It was applied prior to me taking brand new delivery so that means factory to me. When I bought my F250 the dealer was pushing it because at the time it was 50% off. The warranty runs the lifetime of the loan and covers just about everything except nuclear war. With my luck the day before the warrantly expires the terrorists will hit us with a nuke. Of course if that happens I'll have more to worry about than my truck's paint!

Simoniz has been far from the forefront in waxes and polishes for decades. I'm gonna guess that this "treatment" costs more than $200; and for that kind of money a dealer can afford to do an occasional lick-and-a-promise touchup paint job for any customer who jumps through all their warranty hoops. BTW, if this is such great stuff, why does it only run for the duration of the loan? Is that because they're betting you'll not keep it any longer than that? My opinion is that you would have better spent your money on a quality random-orbit polisher and using it a couple times a year to clean and seal your clearcoat...and it can be used on your other car as well.

I went back into my paperwork to see, but I can't tell because it was blended into the cost of the extended service contract. Sorry about that! Don't quote me, but if I remember correctly it was $999 at 50% off. I paid half and the dealer paid half. I know that $249.75 will buy a lot of wax, but it was that warranty that sold me as well as all the time and pain of not having to wax myself. As I mentioned above nearly one year in and all is well.

The duration of the warranty being equal to, or longer than my loan was just a selling point for me. It wasn't like Ford, or Simonize was tailoring the product's warranty to expire the moment the loan was paid off. As it turns out the Ford/Simonize warrantry runs way longer than my loan. My loan is 4 years and the Ford/Simonize warranty is 7 years. I had forgotten that.

Its a waste. My 04' got the treatment. A simple wax job with an el cheapo Turtle Wax paste, TW Ice or any other decent wax or polish is just as good and lasts longer in most cases. If you want something easy to protect the finish that doesn't take long to apply try the TW Ice, can put it on plastic too with no white marks. Matter of fact I used some sort of polish on my truck within the month after I bought it. My dads 03' is older than my truck and sits outside just like mine and he didn't get the treatment, his paint still looks great.

Granted its been 6 years so my memory is hazy but I'm thinking $300 in 04'. Was a misunderstanding between the salesman and myself. I thought he was throwing the treatment in the deal since the truck was dirty from being on the lot. Wasn't so and I ended up paying for it.

Not 100% sure but I think the dealer takes the truck to someone for application. Not done at the OEM.

I didn't realize it had been around that long. Or, are you saying you had the treatment put on a used 04 in the last couple of years? I guess the application varies from dealer to dealer. I went to the dealer to sign some paperwork a day before taking delivery and they were applying the interior treatment at that time. They had just completed the exterior and were anxious to show me.

That's a old dealer snake oil ripoff trick. Too bad you fell for it but consider it a lesson learned.

Perhaps you didn't read the entire post. I'm happy with the purchase and believe whole heartedly that it's working as advertised. I'm just wondering what others are seeing? If down the road I use the warranty I will be elated with the purchase. Very much NOT snake oil!

Sorry you got offended by my responce but I'm not saying you are stupid. (just not street wise). For $10-$30 you can apply the same coating yourself. I have a family member thats a new/used car salesman so it's a basic fact you got took and fatten their wallets.

I bought my 04' brand new from the dealer in 04'. Pretty sure I still have the Simonize paperwork in my owners manual.
