it was more of a smash, i was holding a piece of wood on the splitter trying to push another log through the wedges. im not really sure how or where my fingers got bit, but the log popped and i felt a good bite. i took my glove off, and saw i had broken the nail and was bleeding pretty good. then after i took a rag and cleared some blood away i saw that it was much worse, i basically de-gloved the flesh off the bone from the last knuckle out. it was my left bird that got badly squeeshed, and the ring is just bruised. unfortunately i am left handed, and yes that is the clutch hand.
it should heal quick, i have a follow up in 2 weeks. it looks like hamburger right now, hopefully it heals a little better. i do have feeling all over it though, so thats good. i had de-gloved my pointer on the same hand several years ago, and it took about 5 years before i had any feeling back in the tip of that finger.
the worst part of the whole experience was the FRIGGEN lidocaine hydrochloride needles the doc used on my hand. he used 4 of them, 3cc's each, and blew my hand up like a balloon. he put 2 on each side of the knuckle at the base of the finger.
some stitches put my middle finger together. it hurts some. i hope it heals back to a normal looking/functioning finger, but i mashed it up pretty well. 2 weeks in the stitches and i go get them cut out at he follow up.
Be careful of the person you flip that middle finger.
So who did you flip off?
I bet you will not do that again.
