I have a hard time getting a hold of John Wood... usually, I have to call him around 7-8am his time (he's in CA). I couldn't get BTS to return a message either... I don't get it. I can't seem to get ANYBODY to return my messages!
How long do you plan to keep it? Do you do mods? If you are dumping it ASAP, get whatever is cheapest. If you are dumping it in a few years and not doing mods, get a Ford reman. If you want to drive the truck into the ground, get a BTS since he will fix it whenever it breaks.

My goal right now is to see the odometer on that truck roll over 999,999. I think it would be sweet to put 1,000,000 on a truck. I am only at 286 now... I plan on DP turner for sure, but right now not over 100 hp. Maybe some other mods down the road. I will probably put it on 37's down the road, with a minimal lift, I just started upgrading the sound system, and will continue to include speakers in the bed for camping and wheeling, with a 3rd battery to power it all, possbibly a winch, onboard compressor, and then of course fixing whatever breaks. In other words, the is my favorite vehicle i have ever owned and have no intention of parting ways with it.
I am definitely going with JW or BTS. right now I am leaning strongly toward John Woods.
with that many miles planned for your truck, you will have tranny issues down the road.... Will JW fix it for free...for Life? BTS says they will. Tunes will void some warrenties on some transmissions.... they will not on a BTS.

People say much before money changes hands. BTS has been known to fix it for free by others OUTSIDE of the warranty period so it is a good investment

I am not sure what you are saying here? I know how good BTSs 'warrenty' is. When I shelled my original transmission, I bought a BTS. I had it shipped to me and had a local garage install it. This garage failed to blow out the trans cooler among other things that I did not know about. Bolts missing and the flywheel not torqued tightly to the TC. The crap that was still in the cooler worked its way back into the trans. the TC locked up and I ended up driving to Lead Hill pulling a 30 ft camper (with TC locked up) and fried the trans and broke the center shaft in two. Brian never said a word about me destroying the transmission, he just rebuilt it and installed it correctly. The price of the transmission has already paid for itself and I sleep very well at night knowing that I have workhorse. I know that I broke the shaft in two when I was backing up to the camper (TC locked in). I drove it 250 miles in that condition.... I was not able to 'kill the transmission', ( but I 'tried', sorry Brian for what I did to your transmission)

What I was trying to say was that I believe people who tell me that the guy will warranty it AFTER the warranty period is up more than if he told me himself. People say much before money changes hands. Call me a skeptic.
John is the man! I put the valve body in and it sure helped! There's still a slight delay between 2nd and 3rd, but the fact there's a rediculous delay between when I shift it into reverse and when it kicks in says I've got a pretty worn out drive clutch. Reverse and 3rd use the same drive clutch... the valve body increased the clutch pressure and reduced the amount of slippage in the 2nd to 3rd shift and it REALLY improved all the other shifts! I'm VERY happy... he knows his stuff and the fact that he helped me out over the phone is pretty incredible. But this transmission is staying in the truck till I loose 3rd... then I'll get a TowMaster!
I have an appointment with JW on November 11 to get my towmaster and some other goodies as well. I can't wait, its going to be a different truck after that.
Plus I have Pyro, Boost, Fuel Pressue, and trans temp guages coming, with fuel crossover, oil crossover, ccv, and two cps's (one to replace the gray I have, and one as a spare
Dp tuner down the road and a towmaster transmission.

Congratulations.
Once you meet JW you will be a fan forever. Have a safe trip and enjoy beautiful downtown Holtville. Maybe, you could figure out how to get a F-5 chip with the 80e tune so John could show you what your truck can do with just that. Sure would make that long trip home a lot more fun. Get more tunes later. Just my .02.
