3.0 strange noise

3.0 strange noise

I have a 2003 3.0 Ranger manual trans 90k mi. there is a tingy sound coming from the engine only under load. Any ideas? Thanks

may be sound from tranny counter shaft?
if you are sure from engine, try to locate where the sound from? may be bearings (???)

try a higher grade of octane gas.

spark knock would be my first guess. Try high octane gas to see if it goes away, then you can deal with trying to solve the problem after.

I'll try the higher octane gas to see if it makes a difference...

Higher octane gas should do the trick, here in AZ they put that fuel supplement in our gas for 9 months and I have to go 1 more octane higher to keep the ping out during the HOT months.

Well I put a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner in and after a couple days the tingy sound went away at least for now.
