I have a 1999 F350, trying to wire in a Motorola vehicle adapter for my cell phone.
Adapter has an output to operate the mute on the radio.
However, I cannot find any information about the radio plugs and where to connect it. (I have the factory manuals - apparently was not an option back then)
Many radios will fit this, but I don't see it in any other manuals either.
Anybody ever seen the pinouts for these radios?
Do you believe these radios have a mute function from the factory? I took a quick look at a 2000 radio diagrams, and I didn't see one, unless you need some other wire to the radio?
I knew some people that had fleet trucks of that vintage that had it connected.
May have been an aftermarket adapter, but I haven't seen any of them either.
I watched the Verizon tech wire it from a distance, so I don't know of any of the details.
Definitely not in the Ford manual. Many of these radios were Visteons, but I can't seem to find the schematics for them. It was definitely not in the harness from Ford. Pretty easy to add the pins - hard to do in the right spot without knowing where they go.
The factory harness only connects to about a third of the pins available on the back.
