Jack Points

I did not get any responses to a forum search. What are the Ford recommended jack points for 1-1/2 ton trucks? Are axle tubes safe to support the rear of the truck (jack point/jack stands)? What about using a big floor jack to lift the truck by the frame?

Mike, I lifted the rear axle with a floor jack under the pumpkin, with a block of wood as a cushion, and then rested it on jack stands under the axle tubes. Don't know if this is the approved method but I haven't noticed any ill effects - so far. Bet that puts your mind at ease!

Note! My truck is just a cab/chassis so far. No real weight on the back end.

I tend to jack at the leaf springs and then put jack stands under the axle tubes. Done this for 40 years, never a problem. These are very tough trucks!

Thanks for the responses. I bought a 6-ton bottle jack to carry with me and used Gary's method when we did the tire/wheel work. A friend used a bottle jack under the middle of the front axle to lift the front end of the department's truck; I wasn't that brave. We dropped the trucks onto jack stands in both cases. Was looking for validation or better method for the future. Thanks again.

Yeah, don't jack in the middle with a bottle jack. I've been doing it like GB for just as long.
